🧱 Brickinator — Privacy & Safety

What Brickinator does NOT do

• No accounts. No sign-up, no login, no email needed to use the app — ever.
• No ads and no third-party advertising of any kind.
• No analytics, no tracking, no cookies for tracking, no fingerprinting.
• No selling, sharing, or renting of anyone's information — there is nothing to sell.
• No social features, no chat, no comments, no way for strangers to contact your child.
• No location collection.

Where your child's creations live

Drawings, brick models, movies and saved projects are stored only in your device's own browser or app storage, so your child can pick up where they left off. You can erase all of it at any time by clearing the app's data (or, on the web, your browser's site data). Because it lives only on your device, it is not backed up by us — use the in-app 📦 Save project button to keep your own copy.

Camera and photos

• The camera is used only when your child chooses a feature that needs it — snapping a picture to turn into bricks, filming a stop-frame movie, or scanning a toy.
• Images and video are processed entirely on your device to make the bricks or the movie. They are never uploaded to us or anyone else.
• The app asks the device for camera permission only at the moment a camera feature is used, and releases the camera as soon as you leave it. You can deny or revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.

Microphone (voice-over)

• The microphone is used only if your child chooses to record a voice-over for a stop-motion movie.
• The recording is kept on your device and mixed into the movie you save. It is never uploaded to us or anyone else.
• The app asks for microphone permission only at the moment recording starts, and releases the microphone as soon as recording stops or you leave the screen. You can deny or revoke it any time in your device settings.

Children's privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K)

Brickinator is designed for children and their families, and it is built to comply with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar rules by the simplest possible means: we collect no personal information from children, ever. Nothing a child draws, builds, films, says or saves is transmitted anywhere, so there is nothing that requires verifiable parental consent, and there is no profile of your child on our servers or anywhere off your own device. (Badges and saved creations live only in your device's own storage, for your child — never sent to us.)

The one exception is not really an exception: if a parent chooses to buy the optional Family Unlock, that is an adult knowingly making a purchase, and it is never connected to the child or to anything the child made. See If you buy the Family Unlock below.

Our web host

Like every website, the company that serves these pages to you (our host, Vercel) briefly processes your device's IP address in routine server logs so it can deliver the page. We run no analytics, set no tracking cookies, and build no profiles — the app itself sends nothing anywhere. If you install it to your home screen and use it offline, even those server requests stop.

If you buy the Family Unlock

Brickinator is free. An optional one-time Family Unlock is planned to add extra features. It isn't available for purchase yet. Because buying anything necessarily involves some information, here is exactly what happens — and what never happens — when it does launch. We'd rather be specific than vague.

• A grown-up buys it, not a child. Purchasing happens on a checkout page operated by a payment company (or an app store), by an adult who chooses to be there.
• They handle the payment, not us. We never see or store your card details — those go to the payment company, under their own privacy policy.
• We may see your email address, so we can send you your unlock key and answer you if something goes wrong. That's the one piece of information about you we ever hold.
• It is never linked to your child. Your purchase and your child's creations are two unconnected things — there is no account to join them to, and we could not connect them even if we wanted to.
• No profile, no marketing lists, no selling or sharing it, and no tracking you afterwards.

The unlock itself is just a key stored on your device. No account, no login, and nothing about your child's side of the app changes at all.
